PAO PAO Restaurant: The In-Game Kitchen Explained
In PAO PAO the restaurant is the player-run kitchen you build and staff with friends, plus why real-world restaurants share the name.

Table of Contents
In PAO PAO, "the restaurant" is not a single building you visit — it is the business you build and run yourself in a seaside town. You start with a small kitchen, install equipment, assemble a menu, and serve guests, either alone or with up to three friends. The game is from developer ArtDock and publisher Dreland Enterprises, and as of 2026-10-19 the official Steam page gives it a release date of October 26, 2026, in Early Access.
What the restaurant involves
The developer's own description on the Steam page frames the restaurant as the game's centrepiece rather than a side activity: you turn a small kitchen into "the restaurant of your dreams," fit it out with equipment, put a menu together, and serve everyone from a handful of simple orders to a completely full dining room. The same page says you can run the kitchen solo or in co-op with up to three other players to help the restaurant grow.
It also sits inside a wider town rather than standing alone. The same description lists growing crops, fishing from the shore or from a boat, collecting resources in the forest, walking around town and spending an afternoon in the arcade. Decorating is part of the package too — the developer mentions changing the look of your house, restaurant and garden at any time.

Systems the developer has referenced
The Steam page describes the restaurant in broad terms; the developer's patch announcements fill in a little more of what exists around it without explaining every mechanic:
- Daily menu and cookbook — both were updated in the September 18, 2026 demo patch note, which also mentions a special-day screen on the calendar.
- Restaurant shifts — the same demo patch note refers to fixing "restaurant shift result calculations," so shifts are a system the developer has been adjusting.
- Ingredient boxes and sauce dispensers — the October 1, 2026 patch note says it added new hints for these, alongside improved tutorial steps and garden-bed interactions.
- Recipes — the October 1, 2026 note says recipes were updated and a new one was added, along with balance changes.
The Steam page does not lay out a step-by-step restaurant tutorial, so treat the above as the systems the developer has publicly touched, not as a full recipe or menu list.
Solo or with friends
Steam lists single-player, multi-player, co-op and online co-op for the game, with full controller support and gamepad recommended. The developer's pitch is that co-op is not only about the kitchen: the Steam description suggests splitting up to explore town, or skipping work entirely for boat races, basketball and water-gun fights.
The October 1, 2026 patch focused heavily on multiplayer — private lobby joining, network performance, item duplication on garden beds and chests, money desyncs and items disappearing when a player leaves mid-edit. It also added Polish, Turkish and Ukrainian language support and voice chat settings.

Getting in
A pre-release demo went live on September 14, 2026, and the September 18, 2026 demo patch note states that demo saves can be transferred to the full version. Early Access follows on October 26, 2026 according to the developer's Steam announcement of September 18, 2026. As of 2026-10-19, the official Steam page lists Windows as the platform and does not list a price; minimum requirements there are Windows 10/11 x64, an Intel Core i3-10100, 4 GB RAM, a GTX 1050 and 2 GB of storage.
Same name, different places
Searching "PAO PAO restaurant" also turns up real businesses with no connection to the game — nothing on the Steam page links it to any of them:
- Pao Pao Fast Food, a Colombian restaurant in Miami, Florida, whose site promotes Colombian-style burgers, hot dogs, pinchos and bandeja paisa.
- Pao Pao Latin Cuisine at 124 Woodstock Ave, Rutland, Vermont, which lists dinner hours of 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday and is closed Monday.
- PAO PAO on the Talabat delivery platform in Tagammoa 1 – Mirage City, Egypt, with an Asian menu of noodles, ramen, dumplings and curries priced in EGP.
If you arrived looking for one of those, the in-game restaurant described above is a different thing entirely.
